I am interested in tracing the descendents of George Padfield, who died at Peacehaven, Tredegar in 1961. I know that he had a son, G Padfield, who once lived at Parkville Tredegar. I am enquiring as part of my family history research. If anyone has any knowledge of the family, please contact me. |

A Mr Padfield was a school teacher in Georgetown School. I think he later became Headmaster.
A friend of mine, who lives in Beaufort is Melville Padfield. He is a retired school teacher, and at one time was involved with Tredegar Youth Club.
I have had a look at the 1881 Census and there are two families of Padfields there. They were coal miners and came from Radstock. The second family looks like they are related to the elder family.

I believe it was Reg Padfield that was the Head of Georgetown and livced in Park Place. In the early 80's we were friendly with his daughter who lived near us in Canada, and Reg and his wife were visiting over here, and came to visit us.(My wife had gone to Georgetown). If I remember correctly his wife was blind, or going blind and was an amazing piano player. I think his daughter moved to Australia.

| I have also been trying to locate the descendants of Reg Padfield and I was intrigued to learn that his daughter (Joyce) had emigrated to Canada. I am related to his wife Gertrude Edwards and thus their descendants. Any further information (off-line if preferred) that would enable me to follow this up, would be gratefully received. |

SW15 - sorry but I don't really have much more info. As I said we were friendly with Joyce and family, and last met in the early 80's. I vaguely remember seeing something on the internet several years ago which indicated that they were living in either Australia or maybe South Africa. I can't remember their surnames now.

| I, too, can remember Mr Padfield from Vale View - I think he was a lay preacher after he retired, and he was alive certainly in the mid 1970s. I am sure that he was related to Andrew, but you would need to check with Andrew to be sure. |

Our wires are crossed Morgan. Padfield lived in the bottom house, 1 Vale View. But Neil later lived not far from the Wesleyan |

| Many thanks Cymro, you have been a big help. I can now concentrate on the Blaina connection with some certainty! |
