I took the names directly off of the 1851 and 1861 census records. I am sure they no longer exist. Thanks for your comments though. Linda |

I have managed to find one street I was looking for thanks to everyones help. Cwm Rhos is the correct spelling. It is now known as Victoria Street. I am guessing it was a pretty poor area in the 1850's. |

| That'll be Queen Victoria Street, or better known to Locals as Queen Street, There is a Terrace of only nine houses still there, called Cwm Rhos |

| Cwm Rhos Row, ( described in print at different times as Cwm Rhos Houses or simply Cwmrose) was built before Queen Victoria St, but in the same direction, both on the same course as the tramroad serving the Cwm Rhos mine, the first mine built by the Tredegar Iron Works in 1800, the first year of its operation and situated near the existing Cwm Rhos farm. Queen Victoria St, was named in honour of Victoria's ascendancy to the throne and it is thought by many ( I have not seen this claimed in print) that the names of North and East Lanes were changed to Upper and Lower Coronation Streets to celebrate her coronation.
