Tredegar Armed Forces Day will be held in Bedwellty Park this year - not Bryn Bach Park.
There will be a celebration service in the park at 2pm on Sunday June 24th.
Here's what I know so far:
At apx 1.30pm the Parade will form up at the car park next door to the Masons and parade to the front doors of Bedwellty House around the Circle beds. They are hoping to have Nantyglo & Blaina ATC Drum Corps to head up the parade. I think that all of the proceeds from the day will be donated to 'Help for Heroes.'
Went to a meeting last night, so here's the most up to date info for the Armed Forces Day celebration at Bedwellty Park on Sunday June 24th:
There will be a variety of community group activities and stalls in the park from 12 noon on. Any community group wanting to have a stall should contact the Town Council - for a donation of £5 which goes to the Help for Heroes Charity you can run a fundraising stall for your own community group.
Confirmed stalls and activities include an ATC Field Cookery tent, Paintballing organised by the Royal Welsh, a TA Field Gun, a dog show, the Heaven's Angels bikers, a mobile police station, and on display in Bedwellty House will be the Grand Slam and Triple Crown Trophies, along with an Olympic Torch. (these will only be on display until 2.30pm.)
If the weather is bad there is plenty of room inside Bedwellty House and most of the activities will still go ahead, so don't let the great British Summertime keep you away.
Whatever the weather the parade will form up at the car park next to the Masonic Lodge at 1.45pm and there will be a Celebration Service inside the park at 2pm.
Thanks to everyone that supported the Armed Forces Day Celebrations. Especially a big thank you to our community Armed Forces Representatives and Cadets, the members of the Royal British Legion, all the community groups that took part, Christine - our Town Clerk, and everyone from the Town Council that helped to organize this event.
