I am already sick and fed up with the Olympic hype With today’s news that he names Olympic London 2012 are protected words Trading standards seizing mugs with the words if coffee drinking were an Olympic sport I would be a world champion And the Olympic flame on at every opportunity on television even saw it incorporated into an episode of eastenders I am looking forward to the games but the hype I can well do without how about you or am I alone?

| I agree- I'm not into sport at all - but the news earlier that Joe Public aren't even able to use the word Olympic in advertising is barmy- I can understand about the logo- but how many times have we heard the phrase "an olympic feat" - it's used in everyday language so I think they've gone over the top with banning that. |

I Was sick of it when London got it 7 years ago and even more sick of it now Whats more BBC news is now unwatchable to as its the BBC Olympic news (most of the time)
Yet again the BBC and the sport mad have gone completely over the top.

| Disgusted that the Olympic torch didn't come anywhere in the Sirhowy Valley yet it was paraded in Dublin of all places which isn't even part of the UK and despises everything British. Sirhowy valley has produced many brilliant sports people over the years and deserved better than what it got . Where was our local boy AM fighting our corner on this ? |

Here we go, get ready for it. At least that torch relay will be over, how sad is it to see adults dressed in union jacks screaming at some c list celebrity with a poxy torch. They jog their 100/300mtr, then confess 'its always been an ambition' or worse 'the greatest moment of my life'. All the while thousands more public screaming for more, are they brainwashed by the bbc's coverage already?. Lets not forget the 'city of london' won the right to host the olympics not britain, by having some of the events outside of london it gives the public the feeling of being part of it. Just watch how many medals gb lose out on, then the bbc will counteract it by spewing stories of 'came into the games with injuries' or 'personal problems' and 'our brave boys and girls did us proud'. Aimed at getting you sympathetic and accepting being also ran's, after all they're representing our nation. Have a look at a few of them, brought into the country and given uk passports on residency clauses. All because they want to try and justify the £9.4 billion spent on the games. Thats £7 billion more than estimated to parliament in 2005. Funny is'nt it we pay for the games through ever increasing taxes, and the bbc and government charge you license fee to watch them. Enjoy

| I'm looking forward to how the bbc will give priority to the olympics, and forget about everything else thats going on in the world. U.s and israel gagging for war with (oil rich country) iran, the ethnic cleansing in myanmar and Internal conflict in (the oil rich country) syria. Just imagine 'todays news at 6, team gb finished 7th in the womens steeplechase. And a few thousand died somewhere in the middle east. But back to our main story'. |

Danny Boyle claims that the opening ceremony of London 2012 is based on the British countryside.
I expect it to develop into a Tesco Express by midnight.

Hi DJHolly.
My wife, fount of all knowledge ( who did attend the women's football ) tells me that they were told in the Millenium Stadium that announcements would be in French first because French is the official international language of the Olympics.
Might be a useful fact for a pub quiz - one that is not well known because so few people were there |

| Thank you, I thought the olympics originated in greece?. So if anything, should it be greek?. Then again, we're 'borrowing' a few french aircraft carriers, so get us used to the language. Thanks fr.john. |

I suspect that the official language of the modern Olympics is French because the International Olympics Committee was founded by a Frenchman - Baron de Coubertin.

Just think we could have paid for a few more police people , paid for a few more drugs to help sick people, maybe opened another school or hospital done things to benefit the people of this country BUT NO they blew the money on a party.
Did I watch it NO not a chance will I watch any of it NO id rather watch grass grow.
Question ---- How many TV channels dose it take to show these silly games? Iv lost count The BBC seemed to have it on all there channels plus the 48 extra dedicated channels. Over kill as if the whole country wants to see nothing other. What a wonderful time it is for the government to cover up what ever they're getting up to, even leveson inquiry seems to have vanished along with world news.

Waste of money and a waste of time. Danny boyle should be ashamed to be involved, wait til the next honours list comes out to see his reward. Obe, mbe or knighthood?. £9.4bn!!, how many hospitals could that build? How many doctors and nurses could that safeguard and employ?. Then again the government dont want you living past your use by date. As for david beckham, singing the praises of london, his manor he called it. Is that why he's told the american press he doesnt want to move from los angeles?. The bbc interviewed a 'attendee of the ceremony', who and I kid you not, was with his family (Wife and kids) he said ''it was the greatest night of his life''. How sad? |

It makes me mad that the BBC (and others) seem to think all the people in the country want nothing more than to watch over paid over rated, over opinionated sports people do what they enjoy doing.
These games are designed for governments and business people to get together for a good time at the public's expense and do deals (some shady) to make themselves a lot of money. Whats more all this about how private industry is paying for it is rubbish as they just put the price of there goods up to cover the cost.
I can see the PM now at the end of it all --------These games were a total success and was a wonder to behold bringing communities and people together like never before and a legacy to the UK that will go on and reach and benefit the whole country for years to come.
Pass the sick bag please.

AS the saying goes "YOU CAN PLEASE SOME PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, BUT NOT ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME!!"I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I also think that negativity breeds negativity. I personally enjoyed the opening ceremony and find it quite sad that there is such apathy concerning the games. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world, but do you all realise how lucky you are to live in this country. imagine having to live somewhere where you haven't the freedom we enjoy here. imagine not being able to voice your opeinion for fear of imprisonment. So come on everyone, smile and enjoy the sunshine (and the games), it could be raining tomorrow!! Trish |

Well the BBC could please a lot more people if they didn't have wall to wall coverage on most of there channels and 48 extra channels just for these silly games.
