The person who can verify the Hall would be Bryan`s friend [ Trevor the Milks Brother ] living a few doors away at that time.

That would be Tom Begley Jones. I know he looks in on this site from time to time. Maybe he'll spot this thread. |

| The Synagogue was on lower Morgan St and it can be seen in a photograph on page 65 of W. Scandrett's volume one of Old Tredegar. The photograph is of the Whitsun Turnaout in the '50's but the Synagogue is clearly shown. Emrys. |

| Re the photograph looking down Bridge St ; on the right hand side there is a break in the curb. This was an entrance to a narrow laneway that served the rear entrances of the shops on Morgan St just below the Park Cafe, operated at one time by Louis Berni. Before the last war my aunt had a shop selling china at 6 Morgan St. I don't think this laneway had a name but it joined Coronation St, farther down.Emrys. |

I'm holding my hands up. I was wrong.
THERE WAS A HALL IN BRIDGE STREET OPPOSITE SILOH CHAPEL.
This morning in Chepstow I was talking to a Tredegar Grammar School friend, Alan Jones. I asked him could he shed any light on whether there was a Hall opposite Siloh.
He told me as a young man he was peeping through the doors at some young ladies dancing when he was grabbed and pulled into the hall.
The person in charge asked him to do the splits as an introduction to dancing. He said he has never been the same since.
We also talked about John T Evans, his friend. John qualified as a dentist and is now living in the Pontypool area.
He told me a story where he and John mouched school and John's father, who was an Overman at Ty Trist, found out.
Next morning John's father was at Alan's house and he took the two boys underground in the narrowist of shafts which were very wet and smelly and made them crawl there.
When they got back to the surface he said " Let this be a lesson to you. If you miss any more schooling this will be your life"
Didn't the boys do well afterwards!!!!!!!!!!!!
