Even the multi's in Cardiff give you 10/15mins without paying i think fredd as in have your ticket,go round trying to find space, can't find one then out or in-change your mind and out again but as soon as you park up,switch engine off and leave car then you are parked and got to pay if you are there for 5 mins or 5 hrs i guess.

I am in the process of using the template letters from the moneyexpert.com, however my husband is also a disabled driver and according to the Gwent Gazette all disabled tickets produced before the 3rd December are to be cancelled this is NOT true as they still are demanding payment from him. I will be taking this matter further even to court if I have to. On the other occasion by son was driving our car and according to the website we do not have to divulge who was driving only that it was not us, we recieved a very nasty demanding letter back from Excel parking am I frightened I am not, will be arguing this one all the way as well as they seem to be stating different things to the press as is the case with the Gwent Gazette.

...It Would be a Good idea to carry Stick on L Plates To blank out some of the letters on your number plate, But that's of course if you really find the need to ever visit that carpark..!! .. It Must be the final nail in the coffin for the shops trying to exist there....!!

MP criticises Ebbw Vale car park company
Source: SouthWalesArgus

BLAENAU Gwent MP Nick Smith spoke about an Ebbw Vale car park in the House of Commons, hitting out at the company that runs it.

Mr Smith spoke about Excel Parking Services Limited, which runs The Walk car park in Ebbw Vale, during a backbenchers’ debate on the future of town centres and high streets in the House of Commons on January 17.

Mr Smith said easy-to-use and easy-to-understand parking systems are important and that there is a danger shoppers will stay away from town centres if parking becomes a problem.

He told MPs: “People should do the right thing, and pay and display. My constituents are both intelligent and compliant.

However, the problems some of them have faced are illustrated by one clear example.”

He then went on to talk about The Walk car park in Ebbw Vale.

The MP claimed that multiple penalty notices had been issued to 29 disabled blue badge holders since Excel Parking Services Limited took over the running of the car park.

Mr Smith said disabled drivers thought they could continue to park there for free when a new sign saying ‘normal conditions apply’ was put up and no signs were in place in the disabled parking bays.

But he said disabled drivers had assumed wrongly and were issued penalty notices of £60 a time.

Mr Smith told the Commons some are now starting to be refunded “after much advocacy.”

He said: “I have learned that when penalty notices are issued – partly, in my view, as a result of poor signage – Excel profits considerably. That cannot be right.”

Oh Shi*. I have made two quick trips to iceland this week, staying in the carpark less than 5 mins each time, not bothering to get a ticket because it was empty and I wasn't going to be long. Looks like my milk and coke is going to cost me an extra £120. I will stay away completly in future.

Don't worry about it Phill it's unenforceable, they just try and frighten you with the threat of a fine or a court date just to get you to pay but without your cooperation they can't do nowt.

If you get sent a fine post on here and I'll point you in the right direction of how to deal with it ;-).

Can anyone help? - My other half received a letter from this company claiming he had not bought a ticket. They would issue him with a Parking Charge Notice of £60.00.He informed them that he had purchased a ticket but had had to visit 2 machines because the first ticket machine was out of service. However because there was a queue of people at this 2nd machine, the ticket was bought after the 10 minute time space that the company allows drivers, between entering the car park and buying a ticket. He sent a copy of this ticket with his reply.
Today,my other half received a letter from Excel Parking Services Ltd.,informing him that after checking their records, no machines were out of order on that day,( and if they are in future, you are to ring them up and inform them of this at the time), but that they are prepared to cancel the Notice. However because they have incurred admin. costs - applying to the DVLA- for my other half's details, they will charge him a cancellation fee of £10.00 - to be received within their office by 10th August 2012.
