They are a German company aren't they?

Aren't they "re-locating" to Slovakia for cheaper labour?

Most likely yes, but also for other reasons, such as cheaper overheads, and transport costs.

if this is true, its another severe blow to the local economy! talk about deivering another body blow to a town already on the ropes! my heart goes out to all those potentially affected

I don't know if I heard correctly on the news but I think they made a substantial profit for the company in past year. Such a shame for all their hard work to be "rewarded" in this way.

It's little wonder, that companies are re-locating outside of the United Kingdom, when the cost of living and taxes are so high here. Another issue is the currency exchange rate, which makes goods and services in the United Kingdom expensive in comparison to other countries.
