Street and people change, that hill will (should) stay like that forever now all the mining has gone from the valleys.....
The first house at the bottom of the picture was where my grandfather was born...Born one side of the valley, Buried the other side of the valley....
Also note the lack of cars, only 30 years ago....

I would question the year of 1985. There are too many trees in the the field below the Tump of Stones. This field lost its trees in 1981 when an EEC grant was awarded to a local farmer to clear the land for planting/grazing. The land is still pretty baron of trees to this day. A fuss was made over the extreme ploughing of this area by residents that faced the mountain. I was one of them.
That's the date Glyn got for it, but I will check.......

Thanks Pierre for checking on that! I love these shots from Glyn Bennett. I think he should have an exhibition of his work. He's got a great eye for a good pic. No sure if I have the correct Glyn but I think he went on to Art School in Clarence place Newport.
