The new plastic 10 note was unveiled at Winchester Cathedral by Mark Carney, the governor of the Bank of England.
The new 10 note will be issued on 14 September 2017, it is smaller than the current 10 note and has a portrait of Jane Austen on the reverse of the note, it is the 200th anniversary of the author's death.
The new note has;
A book shaped copper foil patch which contains the letter JA.
A hologram of the coronation crown which appears 3D and multi coloured, when the note is tilted (pretty).
A quill at the side of the window which changes from purple to orange (magic and pretty).
A see through window featuring the Queen's portrait.
Micro lettering beneath the Queen's portrait with tiny letters and numbers that are visible under a microscope.
The words, Bank of England printed in intaglio along the top of the note.
Winchester Cathedral shown in gold foil on the front of the note and silver on the back.
On the reverse is a portrait of Jane Austen.
It is the first Bank of England note to include a tactile feature, to help visually impaired people.
The 10 note is made of the same material as the 5 note, which means it contains traces of animal fat, which caused concern for vegans and some religious groups when it was launched last September. A petition to ban the 5 note attracted more than 100,000 signatures, even so the new 10 will again contain some tallow, which is derived from meat products.
The new 10 notes contain sophisticated security features and are expected to last 5 years, which is two and a half times longer than the current 10, there are a series of raised dots in the top left hand corner of each note.

The old cotton paper notes is set to go out of circulation on 1st March 2018 and will no longer be accepted in shops. However, the old notes can be exchanged at a bank, building society or post office after the cut off date, but you will have to have an account. The banks could refuse to exchange them but the Bank of England is legally obliged to do so.
If you do exchange large amounts then you could possibly be asked for identification.
The 20 note will go out of circulation in three years time.

It's not 5 and 10 notes that fly from your money pocket,
it's probably MOTHS.

Major retailers have defied the Bank of England's deadline for the old 10 note by continuing to accept it after the deadline.
Aldi will accept the old paper 10 note until March 30.
Iceland will accept the old paper 10 note until April 02.
Morrisons will accept the old paper 10 note until March 16
Sainsbury and Tesco have adhered to the deadline.
Goodwitchsilverwitch will accept the old paper 10 notes at anytime, (also any other notes and coins)
