As today is the 72nd anniversary of the birth of the NHS, it's Hard to believe that tomorrow the 6th July, will be the 60th anniversary of the death of the 'Father of the NHS', Nye Bevan. As a young lad I can recall the Scottish reporter Fyfe Robertson interviewing someone for the 'Tonight TV programme', at the side of the Greyhound, opposite Reg Fear's Bakery, as if it was yesterday!

Yes Titch, your right,it's sixty years since the great Nye Bevan died.
He achieved what no other politician has ever done, his hard fought for legacy has lasted for 72yrs. Where would the ordinary people of this country have been without the dedicated staff of the N.H.S especially during the covid 19 pandemic. Long may it last. I worked in Castle street for over ten years, and had the privilege of meeting Nye on several occasions, and joined with him and hundreds of others to sing happy birthday to, THE one and only Town Clock.

You’re a good bit older than me Butch, #128512;, but I can remember him coming out of the Polling Station at the Church Hall at the back of Ebenezer Chapel in Coronation St and patting me on the head!
I can also remember you working in Castle St. Good to speak to you and reminisce recently after so many years! Keep safe and well my friend.
