The year was 1920.

The motor Cycle was a Brough Superior.

The photograph was taken in Kimberley Terrace, outside No. 53/54A.

The story of this picture is my uncle George Dix and his wife Lizzie came up from Pembroke Dock to visit Lizzie's sister, Winnie Morgan.

Winnie lived at that time in a little attached house to No. 54 Kimberley Terrace. Clarisse and David Woodward lived there later.

Clarisse was Dai Bowen's daughter. If you remember Dai Bowen was an undertaker and builder in Tredegar.

Winnie, Tom and the children later moved to No. 8 Victoria Terrace and later still to No 37 Victoria Terrace.

George and Lizzie motored up to Tredegar via Cardiff, calling off to see relatives, but the narrow wheels of the Brough Superior somehow got caught in the tram lines and with a tram 'clanking' behind George
had to follow the rails into the tram terminus. He was summoned and fined.

When he eventually returned to Pembroke Dock he immediately sold the motor cycle.

The young child in my aunt's arms is Mervyn Morgan. Mervyn in adulthood became a well known and loved doctor in Ebbw Vale, dying very young in the late 60's.

In the 1940's, Tom was a haulier at Ty Trist. In work he had a heart attcack and died leaving Winnie to bring up her children alone.
