Some of you may have seen posters in shops/banks/post offices etc warning of the bogus clothing collection schemes that are currently operating in this area. Just received this information from a council employee as I am the Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator for our street: The bogus clothing collection scheme operated by Orellana Ltd have just distributed leaflets for collecting clothing etc from householders (to be collected on Monday). DO NOT donate any items to these people- they are on the council's list of bogus collectors and any money raised from articles donated go towards organised crime. By pure coincidence our street has just received leaflets from this company- they are orange and white in colour - A5 size and headlined with CLOTHING COLLECTION on the top. Please do NOT leave out anything to be collected by this company- it will not go to charity but to fund organised crime.
I have always been suspicious about these door step collections of clothing, toys and other items. I think to be on the safe side, it is best to take any unwanted clothes, toys e.t.c. into one of the many charity shops who would welcome them. Or altenatively you could always sell them at a car boot sale or on eBay?
