Tredegar Corps of Drums is made up of men and women who are  dedicated to playing and demonstrating marching music to the general public and  to military organisations.

The founder members had belonged to another Corps of Drums and not being  satisfied with the professional standards being achieved decided to break away  and form their own Corps. To achieve the desired improvements, the group  enlisted Geoffrey Blackshaw, ex-senior WO 2 Drum Major with the Cheshire  Regiment, the Prince of Wales Division.

Under the supervision of Geoff Blackshaw, Tredegar Corps of drums progressed  to the stage of performing drum demonstrations, the group demonstrated  at the Royal British Legion Club at Brynmawr, the St Georges Masonic Lodge,  Tredegar and support the Tredegar Town Band for the annual Armistice Parade at  Tredegar,as well as playing for the Remembrance Parade at Caerphilly. They gave a demonstration at Tenby for a conference with Firebreak Wales. They have played at several drumhead services, Carnivals (including several times at Talgarth for  The Festival of the Black Mountains and Kilgetti. S Carmarthenshire) Demonstrations havealso been given at several Festivals of Remembrances including Newbridge (Gwent) and Risca. The group also played to support the Penuel Scouts on their Open Day at Ebbw Vale.

Thanks to WCVA we have uniforms and several new drums and bugles

The band has a number of engagements but is  interested in providing support for any statutory, voluntary or community  organisations that may need help

The group provides musical tuition for anybody who wishes to learn drum, fife  or bugle and rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening at St John's Ambulance  Hall, The Prominade, Tredegar between 7pm and 10pm.

Recently another group disbanded and several of their members joined Tredegar Corps of Drums.
