Re: Anti Social Behaviour

I do think CCTV could help curb anti-social Behaviour, but I must point out that for CCTV systems to be effective then they must be working and staffed by CCTV operators. Last week for instance in my street, Walter Conway avenue there was a drunken disturbance involving a group of mostly youths and two fighting women. The disturbance was attended by three Police riot vans and five patrol cars. The CCTV camera in Walter Conway Avenue is only just across the street from where the disturbance occurred, and all the time it didn't move, it was just focused on the far end of the street, thereby missing the whole incident. It's the same story in Attlee way, drunken youths congregate around or near to Attlee way post office, and the cameras always seem to be idle and looking in the wrong direction. Another problem is with off-road motorcycles, whose riders brazenly ride around the estate, and couldn't care a hoot whether CCTV is watching them or not. So in all the CCTV doesn't appear to be a deterrent here in Cefn Golau.
